Our Story
From a Season of Darkness, a Little Light Was Born.
Hi, I'm Ashlynn, the owner and creator behind Little Light Laser Co.
If you had told me a few years ago that I would be running a faith-inspired small business, I probably wouldn't have believed you. But sometimes God leads us down paths we never imagined, and sometimes those paths begin in the hardest seasons of our lives.
My story really begins with the birth of my son.
I had always believed in God, but my relationship with Him wasn't what it is today. I prayed when things got hard, when I needed something, or when life felt out of my control. And the day after my son was born, life became very much out of my control.
My son stopped nursing and began vomiting bright green. As a first-time mom, I had no idea what was happening or just how serious it was. The following day, we were given a diagnosis: Hirschsprung's disease, a rare congenital condition affecting the intestines.
At just 13 days old, my baby underwent surgery to remove a portion of his intestines. After 19 days in the NICU, we finally brought him home, believing the hardest part was behind us.
We couldn't have known how much more was ahead.
Hirschsprung's disease is a lifelong condition, and while surgery can resolve many of the associated complications for some children, that wasn't our story. The years that followed brought additional surgeries, hospital stays, countless appointments, and daily medical interventions just to maintain our son's well-being.
Then came an autism diagnosis.
And at three years old, genetic testing revealed another diagnosis: Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, an even rarer genetic condition that helped explain many of the challenges our son had faced since birth.
More testing. More procedures. More questions. More bills.
We were a family working full-time, trying to navigate medical complexities we never imagined, while doing everything we could to give our little boy the life he deserved.
And somewhere along the way, I lost myself.
Learning to Let Go and Let God
For the longest time, I believed I could handle everything on my own.
If I just worked harder, researched more, found another doctor, asked another question, or tried one more thing, surely I could make everything better.
I carried the weight of it all, convinced that somehow, some way, I could fix what was happening around me.
But I couldn't.
And the harder I tried to control everything, the more exhausted, frustrated, and broken I became.
I watched my son struggle with intestinal problems, overwhelming meltdowns, a continually shrinking list of foods he would eat, fear of fluorescent lights and anyone who resembled a doctor, and difficulty communicating even his simplest needs.
I cried. I begged. I questioned God. And sometimes, I was genuinely angry with Him.
I couldn't understand why my little boy had to endure so much. I wondered where God was in all of it and why He wasn't making things better.
Looking back, I realize I had spent so much time asking God to fix my circumstances while still trying to carry the weight of them entirely on my own.
I thought I was strong enough to do it all myself. It took being completely broken for me to understand just how much I needed Him.
At my lowest point, when I felt I had nothing left to give, I finally surrendered. Not because I suddenly had all the answers or understood why we were going through any of it, but because I knew I couldn't keep doing it alone.
I put it in God's hands.
And I started praying.
At first, even that was difficult. I questioned whether I was worthy of speaking to God. I didn't know what to say or how to say it. Sometimes I felt foolish, like I wasn't doing it right.
But I prayed anyway.
I began praying with my son every night before bed, teaching him to thank God for everything, even the difficult things, because every experience helps shape who we become.
And slowly, something began to change.
Our struggles didn't disappear. The appointments, the procedures, and the everyday challenges were still there.
But I was no longer trying to carry them alone.
The doubt began to quiet. I started finding peace where there had been fear and purpose where I had once felt lost.
For so long, I had believed that being strong meant being able to handle everything myself.
God was teaching me that sometimes the greatest strength comes from admitting that we can't.
And that surrender changed everything.
"My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

How Little Light Laser Co. Came to Be
One day, while scrolling through Facebook Marketplace, I came across a laser cutter for sale about an hour and a half away. It came with materials and a rolling stand, and something about it caught my attention.
I had experimented with laser cutting in college and had always dreamed of having one of my own.
So I took a chance and bought it.
My original plan was simple: create paint-and-pop-out ornaments to sell and earn a little extra income to help pay down the medical and personal debt we had accumulated over the years.
But if there's one thing about me, it's that when I decide to do something, I tend to go all in.
I started researching, designing, planning, and thinking about what I wanted this little business to become.
And when it came time to choose a name, I knew I wanted it to point back to God. After all, He was the One who had helped pull me out of one of the darkest places in my life.
Then a familiar childhood song came to mind.
This Little Light of Mine.
And just like that, Little Light Laser Co. was born.
More Than Something Beautiful
What began as a way to earn extra income has grown into something so much more meaningful.
Today, my mission is to share God's Word through the things I create, in a way that feels welcoming, thoughtful, and genuine.
I don't want my work to feel like faith is being forced on anyone. I want to plant little seeds of curiosity, encouragement, and hope.
That's why scripture is such an important part of my creations. Whether it's a Bible verse tucked onto the back of a cutting board, a story of faith brought to life through a child's toy, or a piece inspired by the beauty of God's creation, each one carries a little piece of the purpose behind this business.
Maybe someone will turn over a gift and discover a verse they needed to hear that day.
Maybe they'll wonder what it means.
Maybe it will inspire them to open a Bible, ask a question, or begin a conversation with God.
I may never know.
But I pray that in some small way, the things I create help someone find the same hope I found when I needed it most.
Giving Back and Sharing the Light
As Little Light Laser Co. grows, I hope its impact will grow with it.
One of my biggest dreams is to use this business to support organizations that serve individuals and families affected by Hirschsprung's disease, autism, and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome.
I know firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial weight that can come with raising a child who has complex medical needs.
I know what it's like to feel scared, overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure of what tomorrow might bring.
And I know how much even the smallest act of kindness can mean when you're in the middle of it.
My hope is to turn this platform into an opportunity to give back, raise awareness, and help other families navigating journeys similar to ours.
Because sometimes a little light is all someone needs to find their way through the darkness.
Thank You for Being Part of Our Story
When you support Little Light Laser Co., you're supporting more than a small business.
You're supporting a mother's dream, a family that has weathered some difficult storms, and a mission to share God's love through creativity.
Every purchase, every kind word, every shared post, and every bit of encouragement means more than you could possibly know.
I don't know exactly where God will lead this little business, but I know why I started, and I know the purpose I want to carry forward.
No matter where this journey takes us, we'll keep sharing the light.
With love and gratitude,
Ashlynn
